Downtown Gresham
 

      
In the 1980s, the
      City of Gresham embarked on a long-term effort to revitalize
      the historic downtown district. A central theme to the project
      was reconstruction of public streets to include wider sidewalks
      and remove ugly overhead utilities. The acorn-globe street lamps
      became a signature element of the project, which has been widely
      admired as a major success.
