Street
Clocks in Portland

As a city known
for a pedestrian downtown full of historic buildings and lots
of sidewalk features, Portland is curiously deficient in street
clocks in the downtown area. Only two notable clocks are located
in the central city (Dan Marx and Kasab Jewelers) and these clocks
happen to be just 30 feet from one other! Outside the downtown
area, three other notable clocks are found in the Uptown, St.
Johns and Moreland districts.
The venerable Jackson
Tower is also included on this page. Though not a street clock,
it is a classic landmark in Portland that has provided the time
of day to downtown workers since the early 1900s. The Jackson
Tower rises directly above Pioneer Courthouse Square.
The historic Union
Station is also included here. Like the Jackson tower, it is a
familiar landmark to Portlanders, and a new beacon in the rapidly
changing Pearl and River districts that it anchors.
