      bee allergies, this simple, attractive and affordable display
      (above) in Hood River is a fragrant refuge for downtown visitors.
      Another bench (below) takes advantage of permanent shade where
      walkers can cool off after climbing the steep streets in the
      hot Hood River summers.


      
In response to
      narrow sidewalks, these benches are located at the back of the
      sidewalk, facing outward - opposite the preferred location at
      the curb, facing inward. Benches at the back of the sidewalk
      can interfere with walkers in the pedestrian travelway (see pedestrians,
