In Washington's
      Federal Triangle, increased concern over building security has
      resulted in structurally anchored planters that feature a concrete
      and rebar core with planting material around the edges of the
      container. These designs are a creative response to the 9/11
      attacks that improve on the austere Jersey barricades that first
      protected government buildings.
