Historic 'C' Street - Virginia City, Nevada Staying in Character

Though most street furniture and paving in Virginia City is chaotic and not always true to the town's history, these new examples are a welcome exception. The Comstock Clock & Crystal street clock (above, left) is actually a new installation, that nicely complements the historic building and plank sidewalk.

The informal paving design on the Jeweler building (above, right) also complements the historic district by using salvaged pavers and bricks to create a "mini-plaza" extension of the 'C' Street sidewalk. Two strips of irregular granite pavers create attractive driveway tread in the lower left of this image. These new features are a promising indicator that Virginia City might continue to improve its street features as more historic buildings are renovated.
