Esther Short Park - Vancouver, Washington Community Roots

The salmon fountains (above) at the base of the clock tower are especially popular with park visitors. Here, contemporary sculptures of migrating salmon echo the traditional stories told by the Glockenspiel, itself. The sculptures are beautiful and interactive, but, more importantly, echo the rich history of the region to new generations.

The landscape at the base of the Glockenspiel (below) includes rows of native columnar basalt, with some pieces polished to serve double-duty as benches. New housing rises in the background, to the east of the town square.
