Donner Pass Road - Truckee, California Raised Planter

Like most fixtures in the Truckee project, this planter is raised above the paver surface on a concrete curb that serves as a stop for snow-removal equipment (note a stone post footing in the background uses a similar design). The wrought iron rail is reminicent of those found in Victorian cemetary plots around the mountain West, but in this case allows Truckee to grow fragile perennials (below) that might not otherwise survive the heavy summer foot traffic.
