"A" Avenue, Lake Oswego, Oregon Finding Flexibility
Sidewalk retrofit projects are often contentious, often requiring removal of existing landscaping or trees. In this example, the "A" Street project found common ground with an existing business, adding a wide plaza at the shop entrance (right), and narrowing the sidewalk briefly to a 6 foot cross-section to preserve an existing tree (center). The standard profile resumes in the background. The business also provided raised planters to complete the customized design. < Back to Lake Oswego Main Page n Next Image > All images are ©Tom Kloster, 2001, and may only be used by permission
