"A" Avenue, Lake Oswego, Oregon Making a Great Street

The centerpiece to Lake Oswego's renewal plan is the reconstruction of "A" Avenue, a four-lane arterial that divides the downtown, and carries nearly 40,000 vehicles per day. The project features extraordinary attention to detail, with extras focused in all the right places. Here, carefully balanced street features transform one of several intersections along "A" Avenue into a more pedestrian-oriented design.

Among the features in this image are a landscaped curb extension, architecturally coordinated bench, trash can and signal standard, seasonal planters and baskets, textured sidewalks and crosswalks and decorative steel tree grates.
