Hood River, Oregon Overlook Memorial Park
Located at the top of Second Street where it meets State Street, the Overlook Memorial Park is an award-winning public plaza that is a fine example of public-private design. The plaza features a fountain that mimics the many natural waterfalls that exist in the surrounding Columbia Gorge, and paving details of spawning salmon to complete the homage to Hood River's natural surroundings. The basalt column at the base of the fountain lists local veterans who died in World War II, the Korean Conflict and Vietnam. The stairway climbs to the Horsefeathers Brewpub, a major tourist draw in Hood River. < Back to Hood River Main Page n All images are ©Tom Kloster, 2001, and may only be used by permission
