While features
      like street lamps and benches can be installed in cookbook fashion,
      it is the attention to detail that makes a GREAT street. In Hood
      River, the problem of narrow sidewalks is ultimately overcome
      by the many excellent design elements that do exist, like this
      historical marker that helps document the City's rich history.
      This particular building now houses a museum of vintage carousels,
      making the historic marker even more important in defining community
      identity. These markers are also nicely located to give visual
      interest to a large expanse of brick.
