Main Street - Annapolis, Maryland Harbor Roundabout
At the intersection of Main and Compromise streets, Annapolis has built a modern roundabout (above) that not only distributes traffic more smoothly, but also acts as a downtown gateway and traffic calming device. From the roundabout, visitors can pull into parking areas near the harbor, or continue up the hill on Main Street (below, viewed from the roundabout). Marked pedestrian crossings are located near the edges of the roundabout (seen in the background in the view below), but the relatively slow travel speeds allow most pedestrians to safely cross at any point near the roundabout.
