Main Street - Annapolis, Maryland Narrow Sidewalks
Along with antiquity comes narrow, crowded sidewalks. In the image from Cornhill Street (left, located a block north of Main Street), storefront owners make due, with street furniture competing for space with utility poles and parking meters on a 10-foot sidewalk. In comparsion, the reconstructed Main Street (right) moved overhead utilties and consolidated street fixtures and furniture along the curb to create a much more functional pedestrian environment in roughly the same sidewalk width.
