Smaller medallions
      appear on street corners throughout the downtown (above), and
      usually feature a combination of clay and ceramic materials,
      embedded in a textured concrete sidewalk. In the wider view of
      this medallion, the larger curb extension and brick border can
      be seen (below).

      


      
 Along sidewalk sections (below), the combination
      of pavers and concrete is carefully used to differentiate between
      active walking areas, and portions of the sidewalk devoted to
      streets trees, planters, benches and other furniture.
