A new street
      section in Portland's River District includes these elaborate
      iron tree grates, which are adjustable to allow for tree growth.
      Also note the power outlet, with will allow for easy seasonal
      tree lighting displays. Adjacent paving work (below) displays
      special attention to detail, with a combination of panels and
      basket weave textures impressed in the concrete.

      


      
 Portland
      has many ornamental surfaces in its downtown paving scheme, including
      a wide variety of utility covers. Below, the Portland General
